The next Ilkeston Charter Fair has received approval from the Home Secretary to be extended from 4 days to 5 and include Sunday.

Local children are being invited to design the programme cover in a competition so get your entries in before 26 September.

Meet Dylan and Tony, who have recently joined the council's street cleaning team.

Dylan will be keeping the streets of Ilkeston town centre clean and Tony will be doing the same in Long Eaton.

£210,000 of investment from the Erewash Investment Fund has been dedicated to enhancing street cleaning.

A personal safety expert is running free classes funded by the council so women can learn how to avoid predators.

The monthly workshops have been lined up to share vital tips on spotting potential threats that need to be kept at bay – such as on nights out.

These drone photos reveal how the former Galaxy Row cinema in Long Eaton looks now that demolition is well underway, with around 250,000 bricks set to be reclaimed.

Redevelopment work started at the site last month.

Good news for Erewash!

The council is set to approve an extra £2million into public services and the long-term future of the borough through the Erewash Investment Fund.

An initial £700,000 will be dedicated to the fund as part of phase one.

Happivale Social Club - Long Eaton and District Mencap have been nominated for the 2025 King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The Club provides activities for anyone with learning disabilities over the age of 16 from across the Borough.

Children from Bennerley Fields School in Ilkeston were given a tour of the Town Hall by the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Harry Atkinson.

They took part in a vote and were shown some historic items. Some even got to try on the Mayor's chains.

Vandalised and neglected bus shelters are to undergo repairs across Erewash as the council launches a mission to get them back up to scratch.

The council has set aside a £30,000-a-year budget for the initiative – plus an extra £20,000 in the first year after identifying the most dilapidated ones.

Flowers and fruit are already growing on trees that were
recently planted at Pewit Coronation Meadows Local Nature Reserve in Ilkeston.

🍐The volunteer tree wardens were on hand to check the tree banding, re-stake some trees and prune broken branches.

Erewash Museum will be under refurbishment to improve its facilities. The works will expand the Museum’s café area and improve reception facilities.

The Museum will be closed to the public from Saturday 21 June and refurbishments will take place until mid-July.

A free weekly event in Erewash that has helped hundreds to get fit celebrates its 10th birthday in June – after being featured on TV.

News crews filmed as a record 754 people joined the Long Eaton @parkrunuk.bsky.social in the run-up to its anniversary.

The anniversary #parkrun is on 14 June.
