I usually don't like crime fiction whose writing is too flowery to the point that it seems only for effect but damn Tana French is so good.

Malam Seribu Jahanam by Intan Paramaditha is, just like its English title will be, one hell of a book. Social/class issue, gender issue, religious issue all in one, fragmented story that will blow you up. Coming soon in English translation from Europa Edition.

Add My Friends by Hisham Matar so now I have 4 current reads. Too much confidence, as always.

Plot twist:

I decided to resume reading Pamuk's A Strangeness in My Mind that I started (and DNF-ed) six years ago. Inspired by my retrying Home Remedies after failing in finishing (and loving) it months before.

Though it took me almost two months to finish it, I don't regret starting it again for the second time. It's truly fantastic.

4.5/5 ⭐.

Some #currentreads:
- Sawerigading Datang dari Laut, I always liked Faisal Oddang's writing but maybe not this time 🤷🏻‍♀️.
- Kairos, finally back to this book after abandoning it for months!
- Let Me Tell You What I Mean, my very first time reading Didion.

Just listened to the audiobook of Kate Chopin's The Story of An Hour. Goddamn what an exciting, 8-minute "read".

Been on my shelf for ages and am currently reading it. Quite fascinating so far, except for its sexist voice.

Since I already put Nora by Nuala O'Connor on my 25 for 2025 book selection list, might as well read it for this March's Reading Ireland. I'll try my best to finish it in the middle of my other current reads 🤞🏻.

Years after The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, finally picking up McCullers again. This time The Ballad of the Sad Cafe and Other Stories. Only a few pages in and already sure I'm gonna like it.

The third book (excluding manhua) I read this year. Paling suka Obat Mujarab karya Mo Yan. Di tengah revolusi, semua orang memikirkan diri sendiri.

The second book I finished this year.

At the end (NOT of the road), who's the coward and who's the brave one?

In light of the newest movie adaptation by the renowned director Tsui Hark coming on Lunar New Year, let's take a look at an old TV series version of #TheLegendOfTheCondorHeroes #射雕英雄传 8 years ago. Not the best, but pretty fun.

The very first book I finished in 2025 (I cheat, I know 🤷🏻) and I don't know how to exactly describe it. It seems calm but there are ripples underneath it, it's sad but horrifying, it doesn't give any impressions other than dark and gritty, and leaves you empty.

Falling in love with Elizabeth Strout again. Haven't read anything by her since Olive Kitteridge (which is one of my favorite books ever), and now am immersing myself in The Burgess Boys. Some people say it's not her best, but to me, her writing is as piercing as ever.

Hooked by this book. Captivating right from the very first page.

Currently reading #JalanTakAdaUjung #RoadWithNoEnd by Mochtar Lubis. Chapter one and right into the battle, random shootings, dead bodies and all that. Fascinating read, though in a grim theme and tone.
