kinda depends on the media for me, fun action movies or something I'm generally okay with some commentary (as long as I can still hear the movie generally), but I prefer silence otherwise so... often I just watch that stuff myself. text-based is also nice though to be able to opt-in.

fwiw it's taken me a year to finally feel like I'm starting to have words about my father, but I had a similar feeling like both I should have things and like I knew I had a lot of thoughts and feelings but it felt out of my grasp to communicate. I'm sorry you're going through this though.

i do still kill flies because there's no good way to catch them and some that are pests like ants inside gotta go but things like the cup-a-bug let me grab spiders and things and just rehome them which is the main reason I can avoid doing it now. phobia still too strong to barehand a bug ahah.

to be honest I never really wanted to kill them in the first place I just would be like literally unable to use a hallway until my parents did something about the spider in it which usually was killing it so when I grew up in felt like I had to learn to do it to be independent.

Again I say: how fucking interesting that remote work technology is bad and not worth adopting despite all research pointing to productivity gains, but genAI which offers NOTHING is so important to adopt and force on people who have no use for it despite all the horrible things genAI does

evoking the feeling could be nice but it *is* a separate skill set and can also lock in the interpretation which sometimes is what you want-- if so consider writing that in the alt text. but it's not really necessary and can be detrimental depending on the context even.

even I've been caught up in the idea that I need to alt text the meaning. but actually the goal of alt text is to make sure a screen reader user can navigate the page. you don't actually have to try to evoke the art in text, the most important thing is that it tells them it's an artwork.
