i like how abolishing ICE is seen by dems as extreme. like, a world without murderous cops is such a fanciful concept.

It's messed up that I feel like I have to say this. States run elections independently on a date set by Congress.
The only way to hypothetically "cancel" an election is delaying Election Day through a new law in Congress. However, the presidential term will end on January 20, 2029 no matter what.

When has the insurrection act invocation prevented elections in the US. When has anything? Are elections mandated by law, and controlled by the states? Yes vigilance and landslide IS mandated here

Even the most fervent advocates of, "Well, you can't have *no* police! We need some form of police force!" Would start to think about the difference between US border protection before ICE existed and after it existed, and start comparing US policing to policing in less racist countries.
