my god, if I search -'term' or NOT 'term', 'term' should not be the first result. Google is worthless and only saved by how worthless other search engines are

I'll admit a motivator for "To the Lighthouse" is I'm afraid to tackle Proust, and Virginia Woolf feels like (maybe I'm wrong) a good acclimation step

I also avoid reading about books ahead of time. It pisses me off that intros to classic books, like when I considered "Madame Bovary", will spoil the entire thing in some book intro.

Considering 'To the Lighthouse' or 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' next. Probably the latter first

It doesn't make full sense- I still watch and like fiction movies. I keep trying various classical russian lit, and the (not so surprising at all) surprise russian orthodox Christianity doesn't totally work *for me*. Obviously there's other themes, but you know

This would also make a good double feature with Dinner in America. Charming meet-cutes between weirdos, which are the most charming of the meet-cutes <3

I'm really just rambling to myself as a part of keeping notes on the things I'm reading. I don't think I really have any sort of insights, which is why, you know, I'm trying to read more history

There's literally a guy who crys all his lines because he 'has no filter'. Like it basically makes no attempts of being a fully reality-grounded film

I went in blind, only knowing I liked the film soundtrack. I saw some criticism that boiled down to it not being realistic enough, I guess? Which is so absurd. No shit the film where people have to periodically dump out buckets of pink foam from their apartment isn't exactly like real life

"The film received critical acclaim and has grossed $25.5 million worldwide against its $6 million budget, becoming Baker's highest-grossing film"

That's not *bad*, but Baker films deserve to make more money than that.

Guadagnino is the best. Anyone who can make both Call Me by Your Name AND Suspiria is someone who I'll watch no questions asked

An idea from a Nobel prize winner who, on paper, seems like he *should be* a nut job: Investigating pyramids, investigating JFK, and then saying a giant asteroid killed the dinosaurs... Angela Collier talks about him in a video on scientific cranks (he is not a crank tho)
