The Brutalist (2024): **1/2 out of 4
2/2 that’s a shame: the film is GORGEOUS and takes full advantage of the 70mm Vistavision, and quite a few performances are damn good, even if I don’t like how a certain character is written. If Adrien Brody wins Best Actor this year, I will not be mad.

The Brutalist (2024): **1/2 out of 4
2/2 that’s a shame: the film is GORGEOUS and takes full advantage of the 70mm Vistavision, and quite a few performances are damn good, even if I don’t like how a certain character is written. If Adrien Brody wins Best Actor this year, I will not be mad.

1/2 Most of my specific criticisms of this film involve spoilers. Let’s just say that the “twist” of the film is sudden and not supported by most of what preceded it; since the filmmakers are tying the theme to that twist, the damage is even more irreversible.
