We've made the reproducible R-INLA code available on GitHub (github.com/marcosqz/sbd...). We hope this encourages more researchers to apply SB-DLNMs in environmental epidemiology! #OpenScience #RStats

This speed boost, along with easier implementation on Linux clusters for parallelization, opens up new possibilities for using SB-DLNMs with large-scale datasets. Imagine continent-wide analyses! 🌍

Despite the significant speed improvement, the results from our R-INLA implementation are highly comparable to those from WinBUGS, showing similar temperature-mortality associations and spatial risk distributions.

Good news! We've rewritten SB-DLNMs in R-INLA, drastically cutting down computation time. For our case study on temperature-mortality in Barcelona, execution time dropped from over 14 days to just 25 minutes! ⏱️🔥

Originally, we implemented SB-DLNMs using WinBUGS, which was effective but computationally intensive (think weeks of execution time! 😫). Check out our previous work on this here: academic.oup.com/ije/article/...

🏥 A strong link persists between EP & poor health, with EP doubling the risk of poor self-reported health & mental health. #MentalHealth #HealthEquity

📊 Energy Poverty (EP) increased from 12.4% (2016) to 14.4% (2021). Vulnerable groups like migrants from low- & middle-income countries & manual workers faced the greatest impacts. Women, particularly aged 15–65, were disproportionately affected. #PublicHealth
