Amateur contrarian, biased historian, adequate guitarist. Enjoys second rate TV shows, a good laugh and people able to discuss the intricacies of Inca bureaucracy, regardless of competence.
It smacks of Belarus and Hungary, which is not a good look for a country that requires a lot of western support. Ukraine is certainly a sovereign country, and should be free free to choose its policies. However, so are the countries that support it.

Ingen fare, statsbudsjett-kronene klarer ikke oppoverbakken over fjellet og triller nok som alltid tilbake til østlandet.

They must have killed a lot of bystanders to release a statement like that.

Heck, if it violates the laws of physics, let's just go nuts. 6 out 5 stars.

Pretty much. We saw from last time how the president's personal lawyer wielded presidential power like a cudgel. To think people like Musk won't be granted power because they shouldn't be is naive. This will be an administration of influencers, those with massive followings will be given power.

Sanders has made a career of being in opposition to his own side of the aisle. Not too uncommon for wing politicians. Sometimes that can be a boon, because criticism can be good. But unfortunately it is also works best when your side has much to lose, so it often contributes to political loss.

Making people feel helpless is a good way of making them followers. Not necessarily done out of some malicious masterplane, but simply social media amplifying those who are good at gaining followers.

As opposed to centralised when something does not work, and everyone knows why.

Agreed. Functional illiteracy is a specific term for not functioning well in everyday life due to reading problems. This could be due to poor eyesight, poor reading skills, not knowing the majority language etc. It is a good and important term, that shouldn't be diluted by turning into an insult.

I mean, you can ignore all you want, but the post still starts with telling people what to read.

OP is telling people what to read, that is what the entire post was about. It literally starts with "Me: You should read...".

He has an uncanny ability to make violence actually icky and horrifying, whereas many other authors in his genres write about it as if is appealing and poetic.

The counter-argument would be that you risk merely keep giving the award to older titles with a established following. It makes the award less disruptive and potentially more stagnant.

Social media driven by algorithms rewards engagement and popularity, not fact or reason. A debate under those terms merely supports influencers who manage to be controversial and popular. Which is why the coming US administration will in large part consist of the most successful internet trolls.

Arguing with someone social media is to give them engagement. Thus, it is best preserved for people or views you respect, even if you disagree with them. Idiots should be muted, ignored or blocked.

Politics in media seems to be a bunch of people on a scale of semi-intelligent to intelligent who spends their time discussing Trump, which is abit like a bunch of art critics discussing the work of a meth head who smears his feces on the wall.

I have better things to do with my time.
