but most of the designs are pretty tasteful. overly beautiful but I imagine a hyper realistic rendition of a deep one hybrid or shoggoth wouldn’t go over too well. I like caecus the way he is I guess

another art im side eyeing a bit is lily whos a little too lightly dressed for someone who’s meant to be a child. unsure if the designers just wanted to show her otherness but still. she’s like 8 give her some actual clothes??

loved miryams art, but imagine my surprise when she gets introduced as being “skin and bones” when her art is a size 14 model. this is clearly an attractive woman with more than a little skin on her bones.. but it reflects upon a wider disjunct in this game - to condense horror into anime appeal

chapter 5 and 6 are great. the most fleshed out antagonists so far and featuring some insane animations. clearly a nod to r’lyeh, though the returning cthulhu in question is a cute anime guy whose mythos and legacy was largely distorted by fanatics..

ramona is endearing enough throughout as a deuteragonist and as gifted playable character with the most utility, I liked her interactions with the pc as a professional, skilled and witty partner in investigation. I liked reading on her pov after being split up from the pc

the story does seem derivative since it uses tropes and concepts familiar to readers of gacha game and/or lovecraftian inspired stories, but it does get better after the second arc when it finds the balance between writing and action to actually “portray” and “characterise” instead of “describe”.
