(I swear I read the phrase "all meatballs, no spaghetti" in the title of an article on No Man's Sky? But it no longer exists on the internet as far as I can tell so...)

This is solid advice. Personally, I'd like to see more games that don't depend on a genre to tell the story. Chances are, the game will fall into a genre anyway, with archetypes, set pieces, clichés, etc. Focusing on the genre risks all meatballs no spaghetti.

You know the de-extinction conmen? Instead of genetically modifying living species to bring back old ones, they were galvanizing taxidermy. I actually quit making this game because it was too disturbing for me.

I played ch 4 and immediately went yep this is the best one. It was already high on my list but with so many video games it used to be a hard choice.

I once played as multiple skeletons summoned by a necromancer. One kept walking away so it would collapse into a pile of bones (before being brought back) as this is essential to the skeleton sensory experience.
