I mean at what point to history books just say political leaders during this period were dog inexplicably dog turd
January 26, 2026 at 2:07 PM
Nostalgia is not as good ... and all that, but at what point does it become objectively true that the leaders of tradional main parties are just so much worse at politics, than their equivalent of 20 years ago

I am not sure Starmer is really a terrible technocrat, but he seems a very poor leader. With authority diminishing layer by layer, seeming to the point of no return. I still don't see who is seen as being the hope for a leader who could make a difference

He appears fairly unpopular on here with centrists, he doesn't seem like the messiah to me, but why is he disliked or maybe a better question who are people hoping for? Streeting & Rayner seem equally unlikely

Don't disagree with this too much - but what it always make think if this is true, it should be reflected in the atitude to 'broken manifesto faux outrage' If voting representative, the link to manifesto is tenuous + voters dont read manifestos - media shouldnt make such a big deal about them

Think any show of force against Denmark is end of NATO? Don't think any of this will happen but as Chaminda say's they don't seem rational
January 6, 2026 at 7:27 PM
I don't understand what is being suggested. If US lands a force on Greenland not much Denmark Could/would do via military? Economic retaliation would require EU coordinating which seems unlikely at moment ?

Interesting - I wonder why he is against it? Moral grounds? would have thought it is a policy that would be good provocative red meat - even if no real intention of implementing

Sultans of Ping - bring us back to the ideal Labour Party -
'What do you think about my manifesto?
'I like a manifesto, put it to the test-o.'
Took it straight down to meet the anarchist's party
I met a groovy guy, he was arty farty

I was thinking there is a place for a gentle interview podast, there is obviously a point where aggressive questioning without getting an answer just becomes pointless. But surely there has to be a point wait where the Interviewer just says 'wait a minute - that's nonsense'

I would suspect most people who watch such a comedy would not have an idea what US college/Uni dept are really like, and probably would be willing to accept it if they found it funny

Wonder if they think New Labour was a mistake or fear the people attracted to reform think it was, and are too scared not to position this way. See their performative stance on Single Market/Brexit. Essentially don't have any stances they believe in
