I forgot to take any photos while soldering in the new caps because I was VCing with some people while doing it. Anyways I got it reassembled, and it worked!

I also got a fresh batch of solder to use on it. It worked like a charm.

I thought I'd give an update on my Macintosh Plus. I finally got around too de-soldering all the capacitors.

And yes, the Zip Drive is recognized and works

NextStep 3.3 booting on my custom built AM486DX4-100.

Interesting enough, my model is one of the ones that uses the modified Mac 128k cases which can be seen in the signatures on the inside of the back shell

Then with the screws unscrewed, the case was able to slide off (with help from the same card from earlier)

Macintosh Plus updates thread: I don’t have any parts yet so the best I can do is disassemble and look inside at the blown RIFA. First thing removed was the Interrupt reset button, thankfully without breaking it. I was able to pry it out with an old plastic card. #macintosh #retrocomputer
