After talking it through with another tech-y person, I think I'm going to change from offering a subdomain-to-machine (A Records), to instead offering DNS registration (NS records, up to 3 of them).

Manual Sign Ups for registering subdomains are available now, at a discounted cost of $2 per year.

When the site is fully automated, it will be $3 per subdomain to help pay for costs ($30 per year for envt.gay + cost of the VPS hosting the site)
