As someone who's read thousands of bkdk fics at this point, i'm calling bs. Katsuki doesn't have a sad backstory and his behavior was his fault... that's the whole reason he apologized, and still carries guilt (see chap 424). I haven't read a single fic that excuses him in the manner you described.
