Books, old British telly, SF TV, attempting to amplify positivity despite…well, you know…all the current nonsense. (Not that I don’t like nonsense; it’s just the wrong *sort* of nonsense, isn’t it?)
That was the most entertaining half hour of TV I’ve seen for a long time - thank you. Please @vcorenmitchell.bsky.social can we have a spin-off series where everyone gets increasingly sozzled? Your liver will be the size of a raisin by the final but, surely, it’s what Lord Reith would’ve wanted.

HIGNFY shared a YT clip on Friday's edition and it's easily the most that show has made me laugh in decades - I was roaring and covered in tears on the third rewatch 🤣

After that it got pretty late and we both had to go, but it was great seeing Annie again. I realised what a terrific person she was and how much fun it was just knowing her.

The tears I have shed over this movie over the years! I studied it as an undergraduate (part of a module on “the woman’s film”) and still watch it periodically over 30 years later. And cry. And marvel at Katie going to Harlem to have her hair “ironed” (presumably not face down on an ironing board).

Feeling genuinely bereft. But what an amazing body of work.
