I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

They also believed he was innocent of crimes because the DOJ never prosecuted him in a meaningful way, including for sedition. In early 2021, most Americans DID think he was guilty. That changed over three years thanks to DOJ inaction. They thought "If he were really a threat, they would stop him."

I think a thing we'll learn tonight is that people fucking hate what is going on and they will straight ticket vote against anyone involved in starving people while pillaging the country and kidnapping their neighbors. I don't think it matters at all who that person is.

EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session.

Want to know why?

Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out.

Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

The real generational divide is people who refuse to watch a video if it could be an article versus people who refuse to read an article if it could be a video

Steely Dan releases “Aja” 48 years ago today — their most commercially successful album, which now sits in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

It’s fun to watch Jay Graydon replicate his guitar solo from “Peg”. 🎸

My word choice probably reads like sarcasm but I really do love it. I wish more people would work things out to their logical end like this so they can show everyone, or at least themselves, what they’re actually proposing. Seeing it written out is the only way to grasp how truly stupid it is.

I spent the 2010's arguing with my white colleagues that we were facing a crisis in newsroom diversity. The smart, dedicated, talented cis white journalists I thought of as my friends didn't want to hear it. Most of them ignored me. At least one of them told me to go to hell.
The only thing I can say about this paragraph is read it. Sit with it. Read it again. @michaelharriot.bsky.social

Me: Some things could be made better if midterms go a certain way, but none of that is a given (or even relatively likely), none of that happens unless people DO something, and the damage being done right now will take generations to fix. Them: Silence. Me: Amazing weather we’ve been having…

The reason this is a lie is that Medicaid *savings* can only come from denying *care*—not just coverage.

A young healthy person uses little to no care & so costs ~nothing to cover. The savings can only come from preventing sick people from getting medicine
Hinson on Medicaid benefits: "They shouldn't be going to a 29-year-old guy who's living in his mom's basement choosing not to work."

Worth putting it on the record here, though you probably already know it: “Alligator Alcatraz” is a concentration camp.
Hmm, let’s see… mass detention of civilians without trial or traditional legal protections on the basis of identity (race, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation) rather than any criminal act, often for an indefinite period and done principally to expand political power. Check.

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

It's 2015. President Barack Obama has accepted a "sky palace" jumbo jet from the Qatari government, which he'll own after he leaves office. "Everybody relax," he says in an interview with the New York Times. Everyone does. The networks then televise the military parade in his honor on his birthday.
