......but anyway, i said all that but i could also just be overthinking this. i'm also like super big on the theory that minamo is sanseiu too so...lol.

in ten's novel: he mentions that his mission isn't done yet and that he has to live on as murakumo ten for a while longer... but why? liguang is not availing their services anymore. he is no longer being paid to spy on renga.

this could only mean that there's a bigger conspiracy at play here.

(massive novel spoilers ahead) + the ninokuruwas seem to have other plans that involve a necessity to have their members be in a position of power (i.e. as ward mayors). liguang hiring ten was just a convenient excuse for him to infiltrate the place.

moreover, the exchange below gives me reason to theorize that the ninokuruwas' influence isn't limited to just HAMA. ten being privy to information related to kobe (and being familiar enough with its locations) is testament to that.

which means that their people are scattered everywhere.

so why? what's with the emphasis on that? is it because minamo isn't who he appears to be at the surface?

and the concept of "surface" is emphasized even in his character design. just look at his shirt. it's totally intentional.

is emphasized. but even then, such descriptions are surface-level at best, because while ten being an asshole is mentioned right from his very introduction, his entire lore is not hinted at at all.

and speaking of what else is surface-level? minamo's name: it means "surface water."

of course, this could very well be just ten being the fake piece-of-crap that he is. but that's what makes this more interesting: ten and minamo contrast each other in terms of how their characters are advertised. ten is described as a scumbag right from the get-go, but for minamo, his gentle nature

like AT ALL. minamo is shown to direct his amiability to the hama ward mayors as a whole, and he only ever engages in direct conversation when renga antagonizes him during their first meeting. while ten acknowledges minamo's presence when they meet again, it is left at that.
