She/her🏳️‍⚧️ | I rant about stuff I like | Xeno series especially | Still unfunny
Now that the army has sufficient troops and is in an unspoken alliance with Claude, things should pick up the pace as the gang shifts to the offensive against the Empire.

I had to burn like 5 divine pulses to the same stupid horses spawning behind my squishy units (Dorothea)

The battle is fine enough. I actually don't mind Ailell as a map, it's a slog to navigate but it does present an interesting gimmick with half of its tiles being actively harmful and its layout being so unconventional.
What I don't like are infinite ambush spawns that attack on the same turn.

Chapter 15 is another one that sure does exist. This is practically the most exploration the Dukedom of Faerghus gets in the game, which is a shame because a Faerghus under Imperial rule led by Cornelia sounds like an interesting faction to delve into, but I digress.

Then why ask me????

If there's something Three Houses loves is its meaningless dialogue boxes giving the illusion of choice

I like that Dorothea can just fire a kamehameha and kill old people if she wants to
As a treat

Nothing to comment, this is just precious

It helps that the issue with Lysithea presents him with a vital choice between his two biggest priorities: to further research Crests or to save the life of someone he's grown to care about so much. I really like the analogy with the two sweets, and how he decides to find a way to accomplish both.

Linhardt and Lysithea's A support is another one that is surprisingly sweet and comforting. It's not the only support chain that focuses on the usually detached and apathetic Linhardt slowly developing a deep sense of care for someone else, but it's certainly the one that pulls it off best.

Another match I'm quite fond of is Bernadetta and Raphael. It's one of the few Bernie support chains that is pretty good from start to finish, and actually addresses Bernadetta's social anxiety with respect and care

I love the passive aggressive energy these two have got going on. One of my favorite matches in this game for sure.

Character portraits having inconsistent coloring from their models is annoying enough, but still a minor inconvenience.
When the model is dark-skinned and the portrait displays the whitest dude you have ever seen? Ehh not so much

As far as the battle goes, Ch14 is infamous for its infinitely spawning pegasus reinforcements. It's an interesting gimmick that keeps you playing defense instead of charging in headfirst, but more annoying than innovative in my opinion.

There's definitely better maps to be had

There's not much to be said about Chapter 14's story, it's just our own army getting its first skirmish with the Imperial Army. Now that the mysteries of Part I are behind us, the plot progression in the coming chapters is going to slow down significantly. The outcome of the war is the focus now.
November 14, 2025 at 11:38 PM
This gets the job done, but it's certainly clunky and it's a symptom of how comparatively void Silver Snow feels without an active character leading its story. Seteth could have filled that role, but in the end he plays the part of an aide to Byleth — a mere spokesperson for her.
November 14, 2025 at 10:13 PM
The problem becomes clear when you remember that Flayn *has been conscious during these five years*. Byleth was the one in a coma, not Flayn. And yet Flayn is the one asking about the war and Edelgard's motivations as if this was the first time in five years she actually stopped to ponder it.
November 14, 2025 at 10:13 PM
-(which is a really great point!). The problem is that Byleth is a silent main character who only occasionally speaks through dialogue options, so they can't actively participate in the conversation.

The game solves this issue by having Flayn be there asking questions on Edelgard in Byleth's place.
November 14, 2025 at 10:13 PM
This one scene also begins to show us the biggest downside Silver Snow has, which is its attempt at a focus on Byleth.

This scene is here to give exposition to the player about Edelgard's motivations and her hypocrisy in claiming to fight for the people despite the people never asking for this-
November 14, 2025 at 10:13 PM
-kind in this game, but this one is particularly egregious when it concerns the main conflict of the entire back half of the plot and a big chunk of Edelgard's character.
There is 0 reason for her to keep her (stated) reasons hidden, the one secret that still concerns her now are the Agarthans.
November 14, 2025 at 10:00 PM
But then comes the post-timeskip section of all non-CF routes and the game acts like Edelgard's reasons to declare war are shrouded in total mystery and people can only begin to guess why she started a war out of nowhere.

What happened here??
It's not the first instance of inconsistencies of this-
November 14, 2025 at 10:00 PM
So this unpacks a whole can of worms.

What's the deal with the general awareness of Edelgard's war?
In Crimson Flower and cross-route monastery dialogue it's made clear that she spreads her manifesto as far as she can to inform everyone of her declaration of war and stance against the Church.
