I think there are several related issues: better communications is one, related is media drama/focus on doomer news is another. But the biggest are the dramatic increase of population/infrastructure in vulnerable areas, and the collapse of governance. By comparison change in wx hazards is minor.

It's bad. Ocean temps can support whatever intensity the atmosphere will allow, so even Cat 5 theoretically possible. But there's lots of other factors, proximity to land (Jamaica, Cuba, DR have mountains high enough to disrupt the circulation, etc. New post up: enkiops.org/2025/10/24/m...
