Here to talk TTRPGs, Science, Giant Robots, and whatever else crosses my mind!
BUT SERIOUSLY the Solar Ray in 0079 is used to really hit home how ruthless Gihren is and how important it is to stop Zeon. Here Nyaan does it for a boy and goes "Maybe blasting Earth will do the trick instead" and the show clearly doesn't want you to consider any of that. Vapid.

I don't think this show would stand up in the slightest to a repeat viewing. And the show handwaving Nyaan's real casual mass murder is a take for the ages.

Please just don't Slam anyone, we want this combat to finish this session!

Her primary love in life was smashing fascists, her other pursuits I leave to everyone's individual headcanon

I missed it! What's he going to be doing now?

This is of course totally unrelated to my players, who have been great. I'm immensely proud of them and the story we've created*

*this post may be stricken if the plane crashes and burns on the landing. Certainly if it does, it will have been all their fault.

I'm going to comment on this more over the next few days, saving most of my thoughts for after Thursday about the game itself.

But the biggest part about this that gets me is that in the span of this game I'm almost completely full out of love for 5e. I can't wait to be done with it.

It hasn't been some slow-going thing; we've played weekly fairly consistently making the finale session 125.

I got the chance last year to bring this up with Chris Perkins and he made some joke about glaciers.

Unlike my previous two Rime games, this one leaned fully into The Thing for inspiration.

Okay that's not totally true, couple more thoughts:

1) Really solid depiction of what a high level team of adventurers would look like, in actions and abilities.

2) 10/10 Somatic component for Counterspell, no notes

My only immediate thoughts on the D&D episode is that they didn't use the new Gold Dragon design (yay!) AND I didn't hear a single lick of Hasbro-side buzz for this episode. It was so quiet I thought the first episode was just 40K because Games Workshop did a social media blitz over it.
December 10, 2024 at 11:55 PM
The 40K episode didn't have the connective tissue I expected as a 'sequel' to Space Marine 2 but probably for the better. Might be one of the sickest depictions of Astartes just being Astartes possibly ever, though?

The challenge is definitely hooking them: the overwhelming majority still see 5e as the TTRPG experience and convincing them to try something new when the stereotype is that other systems are too complicated can be tricky. Explaining how less gameified systems function is always a treat though!

I think theorycrafting and creating characters in a vacuum makes multiclassing seem stronger in many cases than it is if you have to actually level to it. It can be rough when you don't feel like your build is coming together yet, especially depending on how fast advancement happens in your game!

There are definitely advantages to both that the other can't easily emulate, and ease of access is hugely in favor of online play. I still find most of my games getting played online for that very reason while in-person play feels like more of a 'special event' now.

This leads me to my profile art: the Fixer who brings all the PCs together, Pax Pretorius. I love shared settings, and Night City is great for having PCs from different campaigns all co-exist, even in minor ways. 3/3
