It absolutely does. My kids are school-age. I am able to drop them off and pick them up. I am available if the school nurse calls, I can take a couple hours off to go to class parties or appointments. When my kids are home, I am working, but I am here.

Our understanding of the brain and medicine is constantly evolving. Mental disorder is a broad reaching term, and we now know that neurodivergence fits better, but it will take a while for medicine to catch up.

Yes. I enjoy tropes. Sometimes, I'm just in that mood. But, I would rather stumble upon it. Going into a story expecting it and then being disappointed when it misses ruins the whole book. And I feel like that is more often the case. Like, the trope was added in just so they could say it was there.

This always bothered me. Why ask me why I did something if any reason I give you will be considered an excuse? Which reason is not an excuse? Even the valid ones get met with ‘don’t give me excuses’. It was infuriating.

He’s 8. He managed to take about 15 minutes to put his shoes on this morning. Shoes he put on just fine by himself yesterday.

Unfortunately, I am distracted by every little thing. Audio processing disorder and Audiobooks just don’t jive, and that’s fine. I still support people’s access to them and consider it reading. It just wouldn’t work for me.

I often find that people think I’m disagreeing with them when I’m not. Or, they will argue a point that doesn’t contradict what I said, and I also agree with. I just don’t understand why they come with hostility. It takes me entirely too long to realize the argument is moot because don’t disagree.

I’m a person with a disability because the world needs reminded that I’m a person. I’m an Autistic person because my world is shaped by being Autistic. Yes, my other disabilities impact my world, but Autism can be seen in almost every facet of it.
