I had a great weekend at the California Democratic Party Convention! I attended the Close the Gap California Party for Parity, got re-elected to my Northern Vice Chair Seat for the AAPI Caucus, and saw my friend, Deepa get elected to be the Vice Chair of the Party!

The Mountain View Coty Council will meet on May 27. It begins at 5:00pm with a closed session. This meeting is in person at City Hall, but you can also join the meeting online. Regular session begins at 6:30pm with a Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Proclamation.

💦 It was a long time coming, but we finally had our grand opening of our new aquatics center!

The planned summer 2024 opening of the Aquatics Center was delayed to March 2025 due to construction challenges.

While external committees can be with councilmembers from our region, state or even on the national level. I'm currently on my way to the National League of Cities in DC to take part of in the Economic Development Committee to advocate to the Federal Government on our housing & local business needs.

A #throwbackthursday to this past Saturday when I did another ribbon cutting as the Vice Mayor. We welcomed Mission Binz which sells Amazon, Target, and retail returns and overstock. They start the week on Saturday with items on sale for $20 and then end it on $1 on Fridays.

Last night at the city council meeting, we were joined by Senator Becker virtually to announce that a great Mountain View Community Leader, Olga Melo was honored as the 2025 Woman of the Year for the State Senate District 13!

Finishing it up with the community swearing in ceremony for my former colleague and new supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga. She had a special section recognizing representatives from each city. As mayor, Ellen represented us well.

There was also a massive community swearing in ceremony for newly elected Supervisor Betty Duong. The pictures don’t do it justice. The entire Mexican Heritage Plaza was packed!

Next I went to a grand event to celebrate my friend Cameron Sasai becoming the first Filipino Mayor of Pinole. Not only is he the first Filipino Mayor, he is also the first Japanese Mayor. He was sworn in by CA Attorney General Rob Bonta and did a big taiko performance.

It was well attended with lots of speakers. Then we had the swearing in for San Jose City Council, which included my friend Pamela, who also had a community celebration. Domingo had a community celebration as well, but I was too sick to attend.

With the most recent batch of ballots counted, I can confidently say that I will continue serving on the Mountain View City Council! I am truly honored to have earned the trust and support of Mountain View voters.
