You know, I hear folks I know and love using the term "rent lowering gunshots" lately, so lemme fire a few!

The discourse over the unsanitized depiction of bestiality, pedophilia, and sexual violence was answered by Rene Magritte in 1929 by way of the painting The Treachery of Images.

The point of the piece, by some interpretations, is that it's absurd to criticize a piece of work for depicting something that cannot exist (such as a portal to a distant scenic beach in the shape of a man's profile) simply because what it depicts doesn't correspond to physical reality. You could go off on how this was a lash-back against the vestiges of the realist movement, but this alt-text is already way too verbose.
