I absolutely love millipedes. Everything about them is adorable from the way they move their tiny legs to the little spirals they make when they rest. Featured is one of my millipede children, Bill. (Short for Billipede)

A bit belated but I wanted to give a huge thanks to the Greater Columbus Arts Council! Because of a grant I received from the GCAC, I was able to purchase a large format scanner! This will allow me to work on several exciting new projects. A sneak peek of one of those projects is included here:
Against an orange and purple background reminiscent of fog, there are several rough black wavy lines. In between several of these lines there are yellow dots of light surrounded by an orange glow. In the foreground is a black wavy structure based on radio towers. The structure has two dots of yellow light on its lower half, two on its upper half, and one on its top tip. The structure is standing on a short, wide, black silhouette that is reminiscent of a gently sloped hill.

For all #invert and #sciart fans, here's an informational spread I created in college about the giant red-winged grasshopper. The grasshopper and wing fold illustrations were done using a rapidograph then cleaned up/edited digitally. (The second set of wings and legs were copied and mirrored)
A black and white informational spread has the words “Tropidacris Cristata” and “Giant Red-Winged Grasshopper” at the top center. In the center of the spread is an ink linework illustration of a grasshopper with its wings extended to its sides, forelegs extended above its body, and hindlegs extended below. The top right corner has a small black silhouette of the grasshopper with “16cm” indicating its wingspan and “5.3cm” indicating its body length. The bottom right corner has an ink linework illustration of the grasshopper’s folded wing. In the top left corner of the spread is a list: “Class: Insecta”, “Order: Orthoptera”, and “Family: Romaleidae”. Below is a simple range map showing the bottom half of North America, and all of Central America and South America. The middle of the map is shaded in gray. The bottom left corner has the following text: “Tropidacris Cristata is one of the largest species of grasshopper. It inhabits Mexico, Central America, and South America. Its diet consists of a wide variety of plants, and in large numbers it can cause significant damage to crops.”

Returning with another piece from my time at CCAD! These three pieces were created using #scanography. If you have access to a scanner, grab some stuff, move it around while scanning, and see what happens!
There are three square images in a row. Each has a black background Image one has a large white wavy circle in the center, and its edges are intersected white wavy lines. The edges of these shapes are lined with thin bands of red, yellow, cyan, and blue. Image two has several thin wavy circular white lines that overlap each other. The edges of many of the lines are lined with red, green, and blue. Image three has several wavy vertical white lines that overlap each other. The edges of many of the lines are lined with red, green, and blue.

Recently completed a gouache/rapidograph blue jay feather study! #sciart
