As the Borough prepares to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, we were sent this charming image of pupils and parents at a Victory Day Party held at Silver Street School (now the Aylward Academy) put on to celebrate the end of WW2.

The sad remains of the enormous, ancient oak tree on the SW edge of the Whitewebbs Toby Carvery car park which was inexplicably (and potentially illegally) felled by unknown contractors last week. Enfield Council's tree officer is investigating.....

The Friends of Gordon Hill Station (linked to The Enfield Society) gave away 200 cakes to morning travellers on Friday 4th April. 2025 marks 200 years since the world's first steam passenger railway began, and 4th April was 115th anniversary of the opening of GH Station in 1910. www.railway200.co.uk

Work has begun on the "Unlocking Broomfield" project: making-good the hoardings around the old Broomfield House, in preparation for a new community mural celebrating the history of the Park and House. There will be a public “Paint Jam” on Saturday 12th April (poster attached) - all welcome!

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the London Borough of Enfield, created on 1st April 1965 from the former municipal boroughs of Enfield, Edmonton and Southgate. Pictured is the crest of the new borough which incorporates elements of those from the three abolished boroughs.
