The Oregon Trail presented numerous challenges for families, including long days of walking. A buggy offered a welcome reprieve for affluent emigrants, allowing some family members to rest while also providing extra storage for essential items.

If pioneers were fortunate enough to have brought a milking cow, they would have been able to make butter. They would milk the cow, place the cream in a butter churn or container, and put it inside the traveling wagon. The bouncing wagon would churn the cream and be ready to eat by the end of day.

Our Visitor Center is becoming a host to historic wagons permanently donated to us by the Curtis Family.

The Phaeton carriage was popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries for its light construction, which enabled quick driving, and its "high fashion" style.
