This isn't quite correct.

Not much THCa is converted to THC through the curing (drying) process. After the cure most of the THCa is still in its acidic form.

Heat is the primary decarboxylator.

So most of your THC is THCa until exposed to heat - vaporizing, smoking, baking, heat extraction etc

They've been waiting all day for this.

They barely make it out of sight before sparking up.

Ah, nothing hits like that cool fall air and cannabis camaraderie.

They shoot the shit long enough to walk off the smell and return to feast.

"Boy, you all sure were hungry!" says Grandma.

The cousins quickly pop off the couch. “Hey, you headed for a walk? I’ll come with”

"Where is everyone going?" the befuddled elders ask one another.

The cannabis coalition tries to contain their excitement as they rush out the door. "We'll be back!" they giddily exclaim.

Trichome heads can be separated from the cannabis flower via mechanical or chemical extraction to produce concentrated cannabis products like kief, hash, rosin, live resin, wax, shatter, oil etc.
November 24, 2024 at 4:43 PM
Yes it can! That is part of the oxidation process that converts THC to CBN.

This post is not saying older cannabis is bad.

This post is saying that customers should know the age of the cannabis flower they are purchasing so that they can address their needs.

Great point.

Harvest date is rarely made visible to the customer during the purchase unless specifically asked for.

12 month old cannabis can still be good and of therapeutic value but customers should know what they are purchasing.

I always ask for the harvest date when purchasing cannabis flower.
November 23, 2024 at 1:01 AM
This is not to say that cannabis can't be stored properly for extended periods of time.

But dispensary storage procedures are not always best practice nor transparent to you.

The harvest date should be readily available for the customer to make an informed decision. This is often not the case.

However, the yield or quantities produced can differ as cannabinoid and terpene production are under genetic and environmental control.

So if the clone is grown in a different environment, it may produce different quantities of cannabinoids than the parent plant.
November 21, 2024 at 6:27 PM
The exception to all plants being different is cloning.

A clone is a cutting from another cannabis plant and will share the same genetics as the source plant.

It will produce the same phytochemical profile if grown in the same environment.

Along with the fact that we are all unique in our response to cannabis (which we talked about in the previous post) - cannabis producing different effects reinforce the need for personal trial and error.

Cannabis therapeutics can only be optimized by the individual user.
November 21, 2024 at 6:26 PM
It is the cannabinoid and terpene profile that drives the effects of cannabis - or how it will make you feel.

One type of cannabis not working for you does not mean that there is no cannabis that will work for you.

Likewise, just because you enjoyed one type doesn't mean you will enjoy all types
