It only makes sense that if there's tailmaws you also gotta have tailpaws.

(You can DM me about further questions or feedback, don't need to cram it into Bsky's dinky post character limit.)

In the start screen, you go to "Host Session", then just hit "Host". It'll ask if you want to log in with an account or not (don't need one), let you pick a name and then give you a link you can share with others.

How would you've expected this to work? I'm the developer, so I can make it better.

We don't require you to register an account for the default Drawpile server, it's run as a public service. Accounts are basically just there so that you can reserve usernames and keep your permissions in long-running sessions.

Timelapse of that being drawn.

…each tile in parallel whereas with brush strokes every dab potentially blends with the previous one, so it's all sequential.

Also, brush strokes are part of the canvas state, so they must paint or else you desynchronize. Layers don't even need to bother rendering parts that aren't in your view.

Mostly volume. If you set your brush to be 1000 pixels in diameter, that's about a million pixels blended with each dab and the brush will put down hundreds of those in a single stroke. Comparatively, a 4K canvas only has 8 million pixels.

Another reason is parallelization, layers can just blend…

I also put it in Krita, it'll be in 5.3 and is available in what's titled as "Krita Next" on their downloads page. Although it doesn't set your paint mode to build-up automatically like Drawpile does, so you have to toggle that setting separately (at least for now.)

Yeah, to me it seemed like blend modes covered most bases and doesn't have the "can you change the session to ruin everyone else's pictures so that I can draw in my pet color space" problem.

(Also 3.0 would mean the *server* changed, client compatibility is the second part of the version number.)

(You can also message me somewhere else if that's easier and/or figure it out in a Drawpile session at some point where you can just grab the brush directly. I got contacts at endm.ink/links)

The picture looks more like a paint roller to me? With regular lines orthogonal to the stroke direction, not along it like with a rake. Although maybe I'm not looking at the right thing, there's a lot going on.

Where do you want hard edges anyway? It may be doable, I just don't get the goal.

May want to use the alpha release though, it fixes an issue in the MyPaint engine where on some devices it would produce values in the middle of a stair step if you got particularly unlucky with floating point values.
