I mean he very specifically invokes The Master and a few other films I can't think of off the top of my head right now as counter examples to show that shallow DoF is a completely valid artistic choice.
If people are too dense to see even the most basic nuance that's not on the video creator.

I'm not saying the video is totally perfect, I just know I happy to see him intentionally avoid so many pitfalls that video essayists are typically too lazy or uninformed to even perceive.

I mean yeah that totally blows but I think that's a byproduct of the video completely blowing up (2.6M in 7 days!!) and being pushed into the feeds of a lot of totally undiscerning people who are only looking for those "rules." Can't really do anything about those people unfortunately.

That’s kind of fascinating because I got the opposite impression. Every time it seemed like he was starting to make an over-generalized or reductive point he then provided a counter example to show that none of this is simple or easy to pin down. Can’t say I detected many “rules” if any.

Sort of feels like the era of the new “mainstay” game is over. People are willing to dip into the hot new thing for a little while but it’s not going to be anybody’s mainstay game.

I disagree with a lot of what Klein says but the obsession on the left with painting him as some outright monster is a perfect picture of what can be wrong with us. He can be naive and unhelpful at times but I’ve listened to hours of the guy and i simply do not see him as some ghoul.

What exactly is the usefulness of insisting that we have to hand it to Charlie Kirk? One has to be pretty naïve to think that Kirk had any genuine interest in anything resembling free speech or a tolerant exchange of ideas.
