Hell, Mamdani should go straight for the Curtis Sliwa vote by announcing the “Department of Community Safety” to be operating next to the NYPD will be trained social workers in red berets!

Zohran/DSA has a shot to *be* the new NY Democrat establishment. Don’t get destructed by left sectarianism.

It’d be one thing if Zohran won on a platform of criminal justice reform. But he succeeded in climbing Maslow’s hierarchy to make the election about “affordability” because the “law and order” pablum of Adams 2021 and Cuomo no longer ring true. He needs to charm them.
July 16, 2025 at 4:21 AM
He should obviously keep Tisch just like Bernie or Liz Warren in 2020 would’ve obviously kept Jay Powell. Co-opting the technocracy (“deep state”) is part 1 of policy. Democrats should start treating the NYPD like the teachers union—more freaks than saints, but freaks who understand reason.

By the end, all the Nets wanted from Simmons was to be Trendon Watford… to no avail. 😔
February 23, 2025 at 1:42 PM
Big 3 Sixers losing 7 straight after Morey tells the media he still thinks they can win the 2025 title is nearly as hilarious as the No-Name Nets going 7-1 and inexplicably becoming the NBA’s best defense after Sean Marks does an interview all but committing to the tank.

Curse of Ben Simmons?
February 23, 2025 at 6:30 AM
Totally agree, but is it the Sixers or Embiid himself who’s insisting on playing out this season?

Apparently he refused to speak to the media after Nurse benched him for the Sixers’s failed 4Q comeback.

Embiid’s secrecy/sensitivity on injuries is plain self-destructive—to both body and reputation.
February 23, 2025 at 6:04 AM
KD’s “you can never have too many mid-range assassins” view of hooping reflects the privilege of being the one guy on earth for whom every 17-foot hesi pull-up is an efficient, analytically sound shot.
February 23, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Yeah, no doubt the return for Harden both coming and going were really good asset plays. But given Embiid’s decrepitude, I wonder if Harden as regular-season innings-eater beats PG as theoretical playoff ceiling-raiser.

Sad to see Maxey’s spirit being systematically broken like this.
February 23, 2025 at 5:34 AM
As a Nets fan who enjoyed that win but desperately wanted the loss, my impression is Sixers ARE stealth-tanking by even playing Embiid. They were so much better with Yabu.

I’m amazed Philly’s so quickly stole Brooklyn’s crown of “Most Catastrophic Big 3 Implosion in I-95 NBA History.”
February 23, 2025 at 5:25 AM
Maybe Daryl Morey’s final Hail Mary is trading himself for Sean Marks? Every seemingly smart move both guys have made since James Harden’s FIRST trade demand has blown up in their faces.

Ben Simmons and Harden together on the Clippers is a truly hilarious outcome.
February 23, 2025 at 5:17 AM
I’ll always love Kevin Durant. I just wish the guy had better taste in co-stars.

Your Kevin Freakin’ Durant! You don’t need another ultra-finesse like Booker or Kyrie. Get on a team 10-deep with wings and mobile bigs like Rockets, Grizz, or Nets, home of future Finals MVP Trendon Watford.

FWIW, Jordi also got Team Canada farther than Nick Nurse ever did. Do you think Sixers fire him?
February 23, 2025 at 5:05 AM
Yeah he’s been truly awesome given what he has to work with—like early Kenny Atkinson was. It’s as if the last 6 years were just one long weird fever dream.

25ppg Cam Thomas has been injured for months, Schröder’s been traded 4 times, nobody else can dribble. And still Nets won’t die.
February 23, 2025 at 5:00 AM
Nor can the Nets. We NEEDED to lose that game. My only hope is that benching Embiid actually makes the Sixers better, as they were in this game.

My condolences re Paul George.
February 23, 2025 at 4:29 AM
Hail Mary…Can Sean Marks and Daryl Morey trade themselves for each other?

Seems like every move both guys have made since James Harden’s FIRST trade demand has blown up in their faces. Perhaps it’s time to swap teams?

Also, Jordi > Nurse as best NBA coach to have led Team Canada.
February 23, 2025 at 4:23 AM
That’s what the Raptors did in 2018-19. Dwayne Casey won coach of the year and was fired before even collecting the trophy. Assistant Nick Nurse takes over, wins title the next season.

Of course, Masai also traded away Demar DeRozan (for Prime Kawai Leonard), whereas Kangz did the exact opposite.

I think that would’ve definitely been the case two seasons ago.

But the barrier under the new CBA is less about giving up more value in this trade, but crippling your ability to make future ones.

Johnson/Grant are 4th starters on a contending team—and very few can commit $36/yr to that role.
December 24, 2024 at 2:41 AM
It’s contact and age.

Cam Johnson’s guaranteed $20.5 million next year, and $22.5m in 2026-27, when he’ll be 30.

Jerami Grant’s deal is much richer and lasts an extra year—ready to pay him $36m at age 33?

So comparable players in a vacuum, but Cam Johnson’s far more valuable as a trade target.
December 24, 2024 at 2:02 AM
Can Huerter play point guard?

Can ANYONE in the NBA under 30 play point guard who’s not already a superstar?

I get the obsession with big multitalented wings, but it’s a bit alarming how reliant young teams are on Fred Van Vleets, Mike Conleys, Chris Pauls, Dennis Schröders to stir the drink.
November 28, 2024 at 4:49 PM
Can we get some Noah Clowney love in the top 200?

As a long-suffering watcher of Nets centers, it’s like Nic Claxton and Brook Lopez had a baby!

Also, at this point Jalen Wilson is a better college national champion turned NBA wing defender than Mikal Bridges. Discuss.
November 27, 2024 at 2:50 PM
The last time Nets were finally going to get their own first round pick back was Kenny Atkinson’s 2018-19 team. Clearly they’re cursed at tanking.

Maybe time to pivot… Does Kevin Durant want to be on a deep, well-coached team that doesn’t fall apart the second he tweaks a calf or knee?
November 26, 2024 at 1:28 PM
Fernandez v Atkinson for COTY would be sheer hilarity.
November 26, 2024 at 6:26 AM
I wonder what would’ve happened in the alternate timeline where it was Cam Johnson who went on a 26 ppg heater in his first 26 games on the Nets.

Would Sean Marks have declared him the franchise player?!

Watching him on Knicks, I don’t think Mikal Bridges has ever recovered from that fluke.
November 25, 2024 at 3:08 PM
Nets fan here. I like that deal for both sides, though it will be sad to see Cam J go. He’s such a professional.

But can you explain what happened to Huerter’s shot? Last thing we want is trading to tank and get a Red Velvet Revenge bounce-back that wins us too many games. 🥺
