Middle-aged gay guy living in Koreatown (Los Angeles). Love karaoke, my Chorus, volunteering, good food, and great friends.
I picked up some fizzies at Walgreens on the way home. The "winter" flavor of RedBull is fuji apple and ginger, and they had a sugar free version. Sounded tasty! IDK about the sugar version, but the SF is not tasty.

This country is pretty well fucked, and I have to live here. Everything else going on and the President all but declares civil war on his proprietary media and the VP says he doesn't care if we're committing war crimes. I don't know how to fix all of that, so I will keep on keeping on, but it sucks.

Been a while since I logged in to Bsky. Gonna try to be better about that. Anyhow, hello again all!

Chiwetel Ejiofor has been in a lot of movies, and he's pretty much awesome in all of them. I'd forgotten that he was in both Serenity and Kinky Boots and don't think I'd ever consciously been aware they both came out in 2005. Well done you.

Today they have crossed a deep red line.

We, the people, must hold the president and his appointees accountable for this outrageous abuse against American liberty.

Dear future husband: learn to love garlic. I just roasted a bulb with my baked potato. Yes, roasted in the style of The Stinking Rose. Yes, after I ate the potato, maybe 45 minutes later, I was peckish again, so I spread some on a piece of bread. I'm not saying it was better than an orgasm, but...

While we can see that this is testing waters in prep for full-scale tyranny, and we know we must keep our eyes on what they're trying to distract from, we ALSO need to fight the overreach at every step.

If we don't fight because it's too obvious, they will go further.

I've had a couple instances today of bots/trolls interacting with my posts and comments. While there's not a lot we can do, I encourage anyone who encounters such on any of my posts or profiles to point them out to me. .

I live in Koreatown. Today there was no disruption in my neighborhood. I walked to my grocery store and back with no issues. #LAISOK

A famous gay man is shot and killed outside his home in front of (actually saving the life of) his trans husband after being being called slurs (fa**ot in Spanish means the same thing it does in English) and there's "no evidence of a hate crime".

I haven't been on here in a while. Still kicking, still slowly losing weight (almost 30 lbs down now), still working on flexibility, endurance, and mental health.

Also between roles again as of Tuesday, so if you know of something, send me a note. Hope y'all are well.

I have a tendency to be more vulnerable with my Chorus family than anywhere else in my life. I talked about my nomadic history today, and I'm happy to have found a chosen family/home with them. It is very good to be back with GMCLA.

After 6 years, I am at my first retreat with GMCLA. AND I am up and about before 7am. Who even am I?

There are times I just CANNOT be around people. Things were a little .... lighter/better ... after an afternoon nap, but not enough. I took a personal day from work and didn't go to Chorus rehearsal. I hope tomorrow is better.

I think we're seeing the negative of American Exceptionalism in the current climate. My entire life, I have had to argue with folks about things like universal healthcare or basic income,

Rewatching old episodes of Chopped. This one had clergy folks and the rabbi equated Constructive Criticism with Kvetching. What do you think, yiddish/hebrew folks? Not my understanding of the definition....

If you're available in WeHo tonight, come on out to the Abbey for a benefit concert. $20 gets you entry and a hosted cocktail.

Generally I try to cook things fresh when I make food at home. It's difficult enough cooking for one. But I have learned that the starches in rice change when they're cooled, so rice that's been refrigerated has less glycemic impact and caloric density than fresh rice.

Local friends, we can use a volunteer or two on Tuesday to help GMCLA with check in at the benefit we're doing at the Abbey. DM if interested.

I may have made a mistake. Today at work the executive I support asked how I am doing and I mentioned that yesterday was rough and I dealt with it by drinking. I was also late today because drunk Tim put his keys in a weird place so I couldn't find them for a while. There was a concerned talk....

New words in Spanish today. Syrup is jarabe (everyone I know just uses the same word as honey). Poached eggs are huevos hervidos (I had no word for this previously). Yay brunch!
