Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus:

A metroidvania with a focus on aerial combat and platforming. Beautiful art and music, fun takes on yokai designs, and often challenging platforming. I felt myself tested with many areas and rarely felt frustrated with it, even when platforming off of moving enemies.

Night in the Woods:
A story based game full of charming characters, humor, heart, relatable character moments, LGBT+ representation, and a pleasant soundtrack. As a college dropout a lot of Mae's story hits me right in the feels.

Shovel Knight:
One of probably the most famous indie games not called Undertale. Challenging platforming, interesting characters with interesting boss fights, beautiful spritework, amazing retro-style music, and a lot of humor.

Little Gator game:
A 3D platformer with a lot of heart. A bunch of kids playing pretend makes it low stakes, relaxing, and full of imagination. No real combat, a heartwarming story, cute character interactions, and fun collectibles that can customize your gator.

Crystal Project:
An open world fantasy turn-based RPG with lots of party min-maxxing, platforming, and interesting classes. Story-lite, with an emphasis on exploring the world first and foremost to the point you can figure out how to get about anywhere without the right abilities.

Atlyss:
Another early access game. A fantasy action RPG that brings to mind older style MMOs with faux retro graphics. Very fun and satisfying fast paced combat with simple quests easy to grind and kill some time with. Cute character customization. Even has fishing and mining in it.

Skul the Hero Slayer:
An action rogue-lite where you pick up skulls, with a focus on collecting items with matching tags to get more bonuses and swapping between your two equipped skulls. With enough min-maxing even the starting skull alone can break the game, with a very challenging hard mode.

Cassette Beasts:
A 3D metroidvania collect-a-mon game with an interesting blend of 3D and 2D art. Character customization including pronouns, lots of monsters, amazing music, great characters, and challenging fights with a lot of monster building depth.

Ovis Loop:
A hack-and-slash rogue-lite where you play as a sheep fighting against an army of wolves with a giant great sword. Very satisfying skill combos. Fun diversity of weapons, weapon upgrades, and passives. Very promising early access game.

Monster Sanctuary:
A fun metroidvania platformer and collect-a-mon game by Moi Rai Games. You're able to build incredibly synergistic teams of well designed monsters. Very pretty faux retro art style.
