If you also want to be able to breath, get an impact resistant construction gas mask.

But realize this: the more protection you carry, the more likely cops are to claim you are rioting, and the more likely they are to target you. It is a trade off of risks.

So, get larger goggles that are impact resistant. Ideally get ballistic googles. They are available for around 20$.

Cheap swim goggles are not even impact resistant. If they are struck hard, they can shatter, risking eye damage.

Small swim goggles can rest in the eye well and be pushed into the eye if struck hard.

Swim goggles are good for chemical irritants. You'll be coughing and oozing mucous, but you'll be able to see.

But some swim goggles are particularly bad for impact.

And particularly with the 3rd precinct, a kid who went to jail for the burning was not a Minneapolis resident, but he did it because of his outrage at the murder because he knew George Floyd.

Community outrage burned the precinct. Give credit where credit is due.

But the outside instigator narrative is also used to steal credit from the people for standing up in 1000s of ways, including forming community defense groups to protect our neighborhoods from the outside instigator who just wanted to cause harm.

Yes, there absolutely were outsiders taking advantage of the uprising. Boogaloo boys wanting their race war. White supremacists looking to do harm. White suburbanites instigating violence that city folk would pay for. That's all true

I'm looking forward to Sharon Otterman on how MLK's marches were "reckless" and Biko's speeches were "dangerous" and how we can't talk about Indiginous boarding school mass graves because it "hurts tribal relations with white people".
