New Plioplatecarpus peckensis skeletal mount 🤩🤩🤩 love to see Bearpaw mosasaurs and ESPECIALLY plioplatecarpines getting the limelight.

I’m super lucky to have consulted a bit for this and some other upcoming mounts… Stop by the MOR the first week of July for the rest!

If you could go back in time and tell a historical paleontologist about one fossil discovery, who would you visit and what would you reveal?

I’d like to see what Rainer Zangerl would have thought of gregoriids, or the revelation of acanthodians being stem chondrichthyans.

Had a fun birthday weekend going to the MOR. Pics include: the best diorama in a museum anywhere, too many Tenontosaurus, this bodacious toad, and a sneak peak at an exhibit redesign that features some very special mosasaurs…

🧵 Another short story review from the April, 1981 edition of Analog. Today’s story is Timothy Zahn’s “Red Thoughts at Morning”.

One time I saw a quadruple rainbow. Left is original photo, right is touched up to better show the 3rd and 4th rainbows.

I’d say it was a sign of good luck but like a week later I had to evacuate for hurricane Milton and was homeless lol.

Anybody have a favorite species of kingfisher? I’m split between Cerulean and Brown Winged Kingfishers because I like the color of the former and love the proportions of the latter.

🧵First up in my review of Analog short stories is from the April 1981 edition with the story, “Dawn” by Dean McLaughlin. Worth noting that this is supposed to be the 1st in a series of 4 short stories.
