Wanted to be an astronaut. Wrote to NASA c. 1975 who replied they were designing a space shuttle, and you could go as a scientist instead of a pilot (RAF didn’t train female pilots back then!). So got a PhD in planetary science, did work for NASA, but never as an astronaut.
