I’d argue well before that. Maybe when the world’s largest advertising company (aka Google) was gaslighting everyone with “Don’t be evil” while it was wrecking the news industry and pressing court cases giving it the right to steal IP. Yet Google was so cool.

Checks out. I’d like to see the S-curves.

He forgot to mention Boring Company tunnels. And why didn’t he include a gif of that Tesla descending into the tunnel system from a parking spot elevator? Elon Musk said…

Greenwich has its flaws but by and large it’s lovely with good schools, access to the country and the sound. Friend had his sailboat there and it didn’t suck.

And the “market” bought it up. Because why not pretend to accept the lie to spike the stonk

So you’re not a fan of TSA?
November 23, 2025 at 10:31 PM
They track FLIGHT movement. Not your every move with a car.
November 23, 2025 at 1:41 PM
TSA isn’t exactly tracking your movements across the country, it’s very much comparing apples to oranges. I would argue that once were comparing ourselves to Russia we were already lost. But I also don’t think we’re making any more headway. I get it, plate readers are efficient.

90% of stops being fruitless and done without official protocol as to establishing reasonable suspicion seems pretty questionable to me. And a recipe for corruption.
November 23, 2025 at 3:24 AM
Or what about the statistic in the article that 9 out of 10 stops turn up nothing and have just needlessly detained a lawful citizen? I’m not saying this is definitive proof, but there’s a lot of circumstantial evidence about overreach here.
November 23, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Based on the article, it sounds like they’re stopping people well beyond I-10 and have surveillance and reach throughout the country. I’m not arguing the efficiency of doing proper law-enforcement here, I’m arguing about them overstepping their mandate. How do you feel about the whisper stops?
November 23, 2025 at 2:56 AM
Formerly I was largely in the camp of “shouldn’t be a problem if you’re not doing anything wrong”, but given the current administration, I think you could imagine how information about the movements of political opponents or just the opposition could be used for means beyond justice.

I don’t have a problem with license plate readers. To me the greater issue here is that this is CBP operating outside of what is its generally acknowledged jurisdiction, and the creep to a broader surveillance state where technology is tracking the movements of millions of Americans.

Robocall definitely in production by spring without steering wheel unless bonehead authorities prevent it.
