The Incandescent by Emily Tesh, 3/5
the pacing of this book felt really weird? like the stakes of the first 100 pages felt heightened beyond what they needed to be. and then the ending was predictable though there was a fun twist in there

The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley, 3.5/5
Literally the same plot as the guest list with different dressing. i’m not mad about it but I was able to guess a lot of it now I know her writing. Still had a good time tho!

You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian, 3/5
this was fine I guess? sure did feel like they were having the same argument over and over for 200 pages and then just gave in without much resolution.

The Listeners by Maggie Stiefvater, 4/5
I was skeptical of this concept and bc of trc sequel trilogy but actually this book was really lovely, Maggie is back with the subtle magic that made me enjoy her writing so much in the first place.

The Bane Witch by Ava Morgyn, 4/5
advertised as gone girl meets practical magic and it delivers on that. i liked it a lot! dark but compelling and readable

Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan, 3/5
I did not enjoy Rae as a character, I have a lot of questions how the world/time of iron book work. this book just didn’t do it for me

The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny, 4/5
I think this has been my favorite Gamache so far, loved the premise, enjoyed the twist with the corruption case. the actual murder felt a little predictable tho

Hither, Page by Cat Sebastian, 4/5
This felt like a cozy, queer pbs mystery, and it was a nice quick read.

Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb, 5/5
y’all know I love a plot and this one combines a page-turner with character development. can’t wait to read the rest of her books

Pole Position by Rebecca J. Caffery, 1.5/5
The characters were annoying, the romance was poorly paced, the F1 was wildly inaccurate. If you like romance novels do not read this. If you like F1 definitely do not read this.

The City in Glass by Nghi Vo, 4/5
really lovely lyrical prose, reminds me a lot of my beloved Invisible Cities. The romance plot both did and did not work for me though

Swordcrossed by Freya Marske, 3/5
Started this back in December and just now got around to finishing it. Took me over half the book to really get into it but the last hundred pages were pretty fun

Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis, 4/5
So funny I laughed out loud through a lot of it. All the characters are well-crafted and charming and I love what it says about the people we choose to be
