Red, white, and blue Manx-inspired log cabin quilt blocks arranged in the Barn Raising pattern, voile banner with gold/orange sparkle lettering that reads, "Any jackass can kick down a barn".
100% hand sewn; quote attributed to Sam Rayburn. Tearing the fabric for the logs was nicely cathartic!

My latest quilt: Bílli'ya (forever). Shot cottons, wool batting, cotton thread. Hand pieced, needle-turn appliqué, hand quilted. Prairie point winged banners in the corners are embroidered with copper thread reading, “Oblaashaash + Himmaka’ + Onnakma̱.” (Yesterday, Now, Tomorrow in Chikashshanompa.)

Finished! "The Road from Oklahoma." The title is a riff on the block pattern, "Road to Oklahoma," from the 1800s.

I really struggled with accepting how different the Cs are from each other... and then realized that's part of the point I'm making, so I just sat with my discomfort.
A green and white traditional quilt block, hand quilted, with "You expect more conformity than I can accept" attached with needle-turn applique. The white fabric has scattered bananas printed on and is quilted with rainbow sprinkled seed stitch.

This quilt is at #QuiltCon2025 - so it seems like a good time to share its inspiration.

I attended a lecture in 2023 that I had high hopes for. Learning about the quilting history of Native Americans is
challenging, an effect of systemic oppression of women and people of color.
