and a point that could put it above the much more technically impressive new one for someone if they prefer the toonier inspiration

the old one has this cartoon character charm that i dont think is necessarily one of the things you are going for. so i dont think its really a problem to have moved away from it to focus more on the “realistic” or maybe grounded is the better word animal fella look, but it is a notable difference

but theres also the secondary maybe less focused on goal, or maybe like… box one could optionally check. that the old one did check but this one doesnt as much. which is a more 2d animation inspired design philosophy what with the solid black eyyes, noodly limbs, and torso shape

imo the new one achieves what the goal actually is— taking sonic (and his pals) and redesigning them to a more realistically textured and detailed style while still undeniably being an interpretation of the original guy— in a much better and more technically impressive way
