A mutant trying to make a difference in the world.
Could be, but he didn't seem to be much of a reader. This was high school and he was a bit older than me.

Breaking news!
The US Navy vessels that have been building up around Venezuela just raised anchors and are headed to the coast of France.

This mirrors an issue I've always had with the "Howard the Duck" movie:
At one point, Beverly finds a condom in Howard's wallet.
HOW DID SHE NOT CALL IT A "DUCKIE RUBBER"?!?

I had a friend who carried a piece of paper in his wallet with 200 joke prompts, so when things got tedious he could whip it out and start telling them.
He was NEVER the life of the party.

We must be the same age, I remember all the adults being upset but the big one for me was watching tv when Ruby shot Oswald. Messed me up.
That and the funeral procession when they kept saying "the President's body" which I thought meant they'd removed his arms, legs, and head.

A little later than two years, but Ben Folds and Melissa McBride (The Walking Dead) both graduated from my high school, RJ Reynolds High in Winston-Salem.

I won a regional comedy contest in '88, the finals were at the Improv in LA. Fun night, after our part finished it was a regular show.
Maher did a set, nothing special.
30 years later I saw him in ATL, and he was a stereotypical grumpy old guy comic.
30 years of spinning wheels.

Since Trump has opened the door, is it okay for us to call Cheung "Piggy", too?

As a teen, my minor gripe about Sal's art was the "Sal grimace"; all his figures had the same gritted teeth/open mouth.
It was only later that I realized that it worked whether the character had dialogue or not, and made for easy "Marvel style" writing.

Between his father and Roy Cohn, Trump learned the value of faithful lawyers from a very young age. He doesn't have to ask "should I", he only asks, "how do I get away with this?".

Why wait and send out "cease and desist saying this" letters when you can send "don't even think about mentioning it unless you're ready to part with millions of dollars and spend months in courts"?
Trump only exists because of an army of lawyers.

Some local libraries have movie and coffee events, but I'd love to see some theater chains get involved. Arthouse theaters offer classic showings, but don't seem to offer real meetups after.

MAGA and Project 2025 make up an axe with a sharp edge honed by billionaires' donations. Until that blade is dulled, they will keep chopping.
Supreme Court reform must lead to repeal of Citizens United.

For someone who made his name standing up to Trump's "stolen election" BS at the time, he's been awfully quiet about the ongoing claims since. Has he changed his mind?

I had a girlfriend who came home from work after I'd spent a day off reading a new book, cover to cover. I loved it, but she said, "You wasted a whole day READING?"
That's why she's no longer my girlfriend.

There is no negotiating with a brick wall. Trump's minions in Congress would gladly watch the carnage from their bunkers while they wait for His Orangeness to give new orders.
Sadly, all we can do is talk and complain while they hold the reins. It sucks, but it's the only move.
November 10, 2025 at 12:02 PM
That's why the nickname "Dusty" became popular.

If the "assaulted" officer had let the sandwich bounce off his chest and watched the guy run away without pursuing, they could have laughed about it and then eaten the sub.
Fox would still be playing that video.

To my knowledge, he's never mentioned Noel Casler's name either. You'd think that with as much dirt that Casler's been spilling over the years, Trump would have sicced lawyers on him by now.

This may be the only time I'll be glad that Dr. Oz was present.

Yep, that face says "I am annoyed at this interruption."
Day by day the facade falls away.

"After delivering an illegal blow to his opponent, Trump was ordered by the referee to stand in a neutral corner while the corner team administers first aid. He'll likely be disqualified from this match."
