Explicit grift isnt the only betrayal of decency, there's lots of varied individual instances of all kinds of nations engaging in dishonest and nefarious behavior for ulterior motives. I wouldn't normally clarify this hard, but I don't trust people to engage honesty.

In the long run, all you have to lose is your chains, proletariat rise up and reject your oppressor and support your brothers at home and abroad! The true enemy is desires of domination, veneration of Capital, and pursuit of those values over all else.

For the record I think a lot of discussion around contemporary framework allows countries plausible deniability and forgiveness for their blatant imperialist behavior (eg China) because it's diametrically opposed to American interests, when that's not really relevant for broader human liberation

I really think its about negotiation, and what social mores need to be established for successful agreement. Trump is quintessential Americana: squirrelly, untrustworthy, changeable, motivated purely by immediate self-interest. You can't genuinely engage with that mindset, you have to grift. Toxic.

There's lots of European powers that encapsulate empire but don't fuck with Israel, and its just a rejection of grift explicit as an accepted social baseline. I don't think the actual genuine religious trappings come into it, in a modern context. To Jesus or not is irrelevant.
