Today I assumed 8th grade geometry students didn’t need told “compasses are not for poking.” Lesson learned. Happy weekend.

I was only out for 3 weeks (summer baby) and I did a mix of Delta Math (with the upgraded subscription so i could pick problems and videos) along with Math Medic lessons where students worked together for the experience part, took notes from Google Classroom, then did Delta math

Went from a school without one to one this year with one (students can have them on their person, but confiscated if they have them out). It’s great. The mental energy I can devote to teaching because i’m not exhausted from asking students to put them away constantly is amazing.

Thanks for writing this up as an always-curious-but-never-committing to academia math teacher. Congrats on the CSU job! (And hello from somewhere across town, I moved to Fort Collins in 2023 and teach in PSD.)

this has been on my mind. i read the book, critiques, podcasts with more critiques, but the core tenants (esp the recommendations, less the “research”) resonate with me and my experience
