There are no children deficit in screen time in this country but plenty who don’t have rich opportunities for play, which is critical for healthy human development.
Being part of this national steering group is a highlight of my work within primary.

I'll be speaking for the very 1st time at Wellington this year. I'll be over in Great School building on the Friday with lots of the Walkthrus & In Action team. I'll be talking about some of my very favourite things - age, stage & the importance of these in the primary curriculum. Do come & say hi.

Just wondering how Chen will be spending the bank holiday? Maybe buying a hundred pineapples? Scaling a recipe for a random number of guests? Or perhaps constructing a graph type that no statistician on earth has ever used before in the entire history of mathematics? #IYKYK 😉😁

If you study "Toys" as a unit in KS1, one aspect to highlight that I rarely see is that Steiff bears were developed by Margarete Steiff, who was a woman and a wheelchair user. A chance for children to study the history of technology and innovation through her life and work.

Want a podcast episode that will make you completely change the way you view the world & young people?
Saeed Atcha MBE DL's episode will do just that.
If you listen to anything at all this weekend, make it this.

This is such an important consideration when thinking about how learning happens.
It's not about being a luddite or a technophobe or being wedded to the past, or not embracing change; it's about recognising that handwriting has a markedly different impact on the brain.

"Childhood is no longer the sanctuary it once was, & child-led play is no longer recognized as the cornerstone of healthy growth. Instead, play is often viewed as a mere respite from learning rather than the biological necessity it truly is, on par with food, shelter,& safety."
