Over at the Victorian Labor State Conference, this and an urgency resolution calling for an inquiry into Aukus just passed overwhelmingly. Seems like it could be a big deal.

Members of the crossbench have written to Deputy PM and Defence Minister Richard Marles, calling for an urgent parliamentary inquiry into Aukus. In April, polling by @australiainstitute.org.au found 56% of Australians support such a move.

Even just a few months ago, it would have been almost unthinkable that I would be able to say, on channel NINE of all places, that Australia can no longer rely on the United States. Nothing is inevitable. Change is *always* possible.

Australian journalists Google the history of the United States in Latin America challenge. Western media really out here acting as if the US overthrowing and attempting to murder Latin American leaders is not literally a thing that has happened, like, heaps

DC bound! I’m super nervous about what’s to come. Predicting the result is basically impossible at this point. But one thing’s for sure - whatever happens, the divisions and instability in American politics aren’t going away. How we respond really matters.
