👉🏼 Views are my own
So many great moments in the show, but this was pure goosebumps.

Had the absolute best night at the Ulster Hall listening and singing (fabulously out of tune) with Chris Kavanagh in tribute to the legend that is Luke Kelly. If you ever get a chance to go to one of his shows - do! Seeing the tricolour lit up in thon venue was chef's kiss 🇮🇪🤌🏼

Giséle Pelicot is the REAL person of the year. She told women that the shame of rape was not ours to own. Her bravery dismantled so much patriarchal conditioning, that things will never be the same. The article by Jamie Klingler beautifully articulates this.

Current numbers. SF at 39 seats and the last two seats are between two FF candidates and Aontú in Cavan-Monaghon.

Some snapshots into the different themes and angles discussed in the book, many of which outline the far reaching consequences of irresponsible ejaculation and who feels those consequences. Shifting the focus to one where men have a role in pregnancy prevention is long overdue.

Just arrived this morning 📚

I am so eager to get stuck into this wee nifty book. Abortion discourse will once again come to the fore given the political trajectory we're on and it's time to flip the narrative on who is actually responsible for abortions. ✊🏼💦

Some food and wine snaps: the poached pear with caramel in Blois was delicious, the cheese and charcuterie board we had in Chedigny with endless fresh baguette was the perfect lunch, and the duck in Cheverny hit the spot. This wine was our favourite from what we had.

Last video of Château de Chambord and then I'll shut up about it 😂 honestly though, I felt like I was in the backdrop of Beauty and the Beast.

Like just look at the detail of the room!

The last and final stop: Château de Chambord. All I can say about this place is "WOW!". The architecture is on another level with so much thought into the practicalities and ornate design. Wandering around the terrace taking in all the details and carvings, it genuinely felt like a fairytale castle.

Day 4: The last day. First up, Château de Cheverny. So the family is still in residence here. The interiors were gorgeous but the continued hunting hobbies from the "master" of the house were evident and left me regretting visiting here.

Our accommodation for the two extra nights was in Chateau de Noizay which was lovely. They have an outdoor pool which was too cold to dip into but also a sauna and hamam that can be used. The grounds are very pretty too.

Some snaps on wandering around Amboise (not feeling tipsy at all).

Our last activity for day 3 was wine tasting! We visited the Caves Ambacia which is a winery in Amboise. We've done wine tastings before in France but feel that we definitely learned more in this tasting and have upped our sommelier skills.

The last castle we visited on day 3 was Château de Chenonceau, known as the castle of the "five ladies" and where the iconic Catherine de'Medici resided after kicking out Henry ll's mistress after his passing. Definitely the most picturesque and romantic castle we visited.

Following this, we also visited the cute village of Chedigny. Famous for its street gardens and chocolate-box provincial vibes, it was even cute in this time of year but I imagine during May/June when they have their Rose Festival, it would be even more so.

Day 3: Château de Villandry is rightfully claimed to have the most beautiful castle gardens in France. It was also one of the chateaus we visited that felt like you could live in it. It wasn't the grandest inside but evidently all the energy and resources are pumped into the gardens.

Day 2: Saumur is one of those places that you can just tell had a lot of wealth. We visited the chateau there which gave great views of that stretch of the Loire. Learning about how it was impacted during the French Revolution right up to WWll was also interesting.

We spent our first evening in the Troglodyte area where my inner cave witch was loving life. So these houses were built into the caves 100s of years ago after the stone was "extracted" for local castles. We stayed in a cave apartment in the Logos Hotel in Turquant and it was magical.

...and I couldn't get over the biodiversity and birdlife right at the water front. After my few days in the region, traversing along the Loire, I've come to the conclusion that France isn't fixated on "tidying up" nature and just let's it be.

So if you followed me on Twitter, you'd know that I sometimes post about my travels. This weekend I spent time in the beautiful Loire Valley 🇫🇷🧀🍷

Here is the thread of my trip if you're ever inspired to explore the region yourself!

Day 1: Blois - a gorgeous compact city that seems very lived-in...

Have to say, starting over again on a new app because of this is grinding my gears this morning. Hoping I can find my pre-Musk era Irish Twitter bubble again.
