Can’t believe so much is still in bloom in November. On the one hand, a late Autumn day spent turning the compost and tidying the brassica cage. On the other, admiring the flowers in the warm sun!

Used a wet and windy Sunday to put our windfall apples to good use and made apple juice. 30 bottles made and pasturised. Looks a bit brown as the pulp oxidised before I could press it but tastes fab... 🌱 #UKGardening #Gardening

Last of the tomatoes ripening in the polytunnel. Chadwick Cherry and Purple Ukraine from Real Seeds. Rest of the tunnel now planted up with winter salads. Just a few peppers left to ripen... #UKGardening #Gardening 🌱

Nothing quite like a home-grown salad! 🌱

So the grapes are ripening early this year. Also very juicy given how little water we've had! Couple of weeks and we might be harvesting ready for wine time 🍷🍇 🌱 #UKGardening #Gardening

Mammoth job this afternoon blanching much of the sweetcorn harvest (Lark & Swift) for freezing. This is batch 2 and I've barely dented the crop. From unpromising beginnings of poor germination to probably best crop in years... 🌱 #UKGardening #Gardening

Polytunnel's not looking too shabby either...Love taking my summer holidays at home. Time to really just 'be' in the garden...watching the wildlife, listening to the birds, growing my own food... #UKGardening #Gardening 🌱

Best year in a while for fruit and veg in my garden now we've finally had some rain and lower temperatures. #FabulousFour #UKGardening #Gardening 🌱

Thrilled my trained peach tree actually has peaches this year, and we're so close to them ripening. Peach leaf curl absolutely trashed any hope of a crop in last year's wet cold summer. #FingersCrossed #UKGardening #Gardening 🌱

Not a bad cherry haul from the garden even if I do say so myself, especially given the desperate lack of water here in the Midlands. Enough left for the blackbirds and their brood too on the tree... Now to the blackcurrants and gooseberries... #UKGardening #Gardening 🌱

Had such a great time at Hampton Court showcasing the wonder (travel up to 2 million miles in their lifetime) and decline (down 68% since 1995) of Swifts on behalf of RSPB and RHS. And got to spend time with the brilliant Bill Bailey and meet the fab Adam Frost #UKGardening #Gardening 🌱

Best time today at @rspb.bsky.social Bempton Cliffs nature reserve in North Yorkshire with my team. As one of the stars of that team said 'come for the Puffins, stay for the Gannets'

Community action can play a big role in tackling the #nature crisis & often has many other benefits such as combatting loneliness.
Love this feel good story about a community in Greater Manchester that's put up more than 100 #Swift nest boxes on their own homes.

Even though we've only had 9mm of rain since March, the flowers in the garden 🌱 are really going for it. Grass paths look like it's August in drought however, but the mining bees are loving the sandy conditions #ukgardening

A good cuppa in the garden always gets me ready for early morning BBC & C5 media interviews!

Very grateful to be talking one of my favourite topics – Big Garden Bird Watch. The results are in!

It’s great to be able to help others connect to #Nature too!
