We’re very much enjoying it today. Giggled at the misdirect early episode ending. Have just googled turtle sense of smell 🐢 who knew! Wishing you all the due recognition for this adorable show.

Right! It’s criminal!! Significant fandom jail sentence for those who have poor excuses for not having read.

But… it’s not even a *hard* Irish name?! I admit the first time I met a Caoimhe whose name
I’d only seen on email, I just stopped at “C” and then begged for help…

So, sorry folks (all five or so of my remaining commenting readers anyway! There’s at least 800 words of it in there that’s quite important. So you have the yappy letters. Which, as ever became yappier on a “proof” read.

At least the next, real chapter is part written 🤦🏻‍♀️🫣😗 9/9

And the extracts idea? Just is too clunky for words. Can’t make it not be odd. So I have 8500 of letters, with vaguely important plot in them…. And nothing to do, except either l publish them, or scrap the whole thing and burn them… 8/

8500 words of letters later, I have accidentally put in backstory detail that’s a little bit important…Oops, I think, I’ll just publish them after I’ve got the main chapter written with the bits I’ll excerpt. So off I go to write the main chapter….7/

And honestly, I outlined them and thought it would be easy to just write them. Penelope was first up, and wrote a nice sensible reply. Then Colin “you gave me a platform to speak my mind!” Bridgerton entered the chat. And Penelope loved it…6/

Sensible author @wantisamlindyla.bsky.social says - why are you writing letters if you don’t like epistolary fiction?Just make up the sections you want to quote. I know you, you’ll write 4000 words of letters you don’t need to get 30 words 5/

Until, that is, I came to try and write the first scene of that chapter and went - oh: but I don’t know what they said. Shouldn’t I know that?Fun fact - my scene outlines have a direction, but far too much of my dialogue is very unplanned until it’s on the page. So many deleted Penelope rants. 4/

The whole of my PoA chapters are fully outlined. Sometimes over outlined and they need splitting. But there was no letters chapters. I knew they were going to write, but definitely hadn’t planned to write them. I was just going to include some excerpts in the following chapter….3/

I finished the last chapter of Whistler with a letter from Colin to Penelope, proposing that they do a bit of a book club on the book she got him for Christmas. She’d had a rubbish time and needed an end of chapter pick me up. It was cute…2/
