Over the years I've found psychic distance is responsible for more lightbulb moments in my students than pretty much everything else put together. It's the reason I bang on about it so much: the difference I know it can make!

So glad you like it. There's something I haven't quite figured out yet, about how psychic distance in creative writing, the narrator-character dyad where the proportions of each vary, feels so natural in fiction because it's how a self-conscious species experiences existence as double in real life.
