I'm so grateful my partner was there. We left about 10/15 mins later, but I was hyper vigilant as I went to the changing room and left the building just in case he was still hanging about. My heart is still pounding and my anxiety is through the roof.

Team this with the fact he was wearing reflective sunglasses indoors and I suitably freaked out.

Normally, this wouldn't be a red flag, but given his behaviour, it feels like he was wearing them so that people couldn't tell where he was looking, and who he was looking at [4]

At this point, my partner joins me and this guy leaves us alone before leaving the gym entirely 2 mins later.

I would say coincidence if this guy had been waiting for the machines I was using. He did not use a single machine whilst he was there, just the pull-up bar that was nowhere near me [3]

So I decided to go to the other side of the gym to stretch and get out of his eye line. This guy also goes to that side of the gym after me, under the guise of grabbing a paper towel. He had to walk past a paper towel dispenser to get to the one near me [2]
