The first book by @suchmo83.bsky.social revolutionised reading in my school. This one looks even better and has already got my mind ticking to how we can improve further.

No 6 in my #favechildrensbooks24 is The Great Phoenix of London. Usual gripping story style of Lindsay Galvin set in great fire of 1666, part historical, part myth. @teresacremin.bsky.social @jonnybid.bsky.social @lindsaygalvin.bsky.social #UKkidlit

No 9 in #favechildrensbooks24 for (upper)KS2 is The Boy in the Suit. Publishers take note:there are plenty of children of alcoholics around, many living a secret life but hardly any representation in kid’s books. Good to see a story finally address this @teresacremin.bsky.social @jonnybid.bsky.social

No 10 in my #favechildrensbooks24 for KS2 is The Wall Between Us about two friends who are are separated by the Berlin Wall. A girl in my class loved the story so much she asked to go to Berlin as her birthday present! Meaningful for me too as I was there in 89 when it came down #UKkidlit

No 11 in my #favechildrensbooks24 for KS2 is The Piano at the station. A short but heartfelt read about finding the solace of music and the power of a music teacher! Like that you can link it to the tv show The Piano #UKkidlit

Bluesky people! If you want to have your eyes opened to how it is for the LGBTQ+ community in Russia, this is a must read. Set in 1990s Moscow, it’s one of my favourite reads this year. @pauldavidgould.bsky.social #booksky

No 12 in my #favechildrensbooks24 for KS2 is Birdie. Set in 1950s Yorkshire, mixed race Birdie tackles racism. It also delves into the decline of the mining community, a little explored theme in KS2 @jprosewriter.bsky.social @jonnybid.bsky.social @one-to-read.bsky.social @teresacremin.bsky.social

My 3 year old grandson is obsessed with Bothered by Bugs by Emily Gravett- great story but the double page spread of all the creepy crawlers is a winner
